Research Article: Weed Diversity of Apple (Malus domestica Borkh.) Orchard, Purola, Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, India

The present work recorded 115 weed species in apple orchards of five villages in Purola Block of District Uttarkashi. A total of 34 families (29 families in dicots and 5 families in monocots) under 95 genera, with 76 genera in dicots and 19 genera in monocots, were recorded. Among dominant families, Poaceae contributed 16 species, Asteraceae 14 species, Lamiaceae 10 species, and Brassicaceae and Fabaceae (subfamily Papilionoideae) 6 species each. The weeds range in Saundari village recorded only 5 species, indicating the necessity of weed management in apple orchards.
