Abstract

A floristic inventory of the forest flora of different forest types (Tropical Dry Deciduous Forests, Tropical Moist Deciduous Forests and Subtropical Chirpine Forests) of Timli Pass in the Shivalik hill ranges of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand has been studied. In total, 176 woody plant species were recorded from different habitats, belonging to 145 genera under 57 families of angiosperms (175 species) and gymnosperms (one species). The study includes only woody plants of the forest; the herbaceous flora has not been considered. The importance of such floral diversity, its significance, and the necessity for its conservation have been discussed in this paper. The paper also aimed to ease the field identification of woody species found in the Timli Pass through pictorial representations.
