Abstract

It is easy to forget that India's forests still serve a far richer, wilder feast in an era when supermarket shelves are stocked to overflowing with hybrid fruits in glitzy packaging. Fruits that have fed generations of people are hidden away in these verdant cathedrals; they are inexpensive, tasty, and nutrient-dense. The unsung heroes of our natural and cultural heritage are these wild edible fruits.
