The nomenclature of Tropidia maxwellii Ormerod from Doon Valley (North India) has been confusing since its occurrencein 1971. The species was earlier treated as Tropidia curculigoides Lindl. and later, T. pedunculata Blume. The present article clarifies the nomenclature supplemented with colored photographs, illustrations, and a detailed description to facilitate identification. A short note on the conservational aspect and its habitat of freshwater swamps at Dehradun is also provided.
